Connected yet disconnected : An IoT Home Audio solution.

The precipice here was to start with nothing but a given brief of it being an IoT Product, and then set free on the conception journey. Out of the various multiple application fields, I chose home audio and entertainment, something that was quite close to me.

After a lot of research and a survey, it was pretty clear what stopped people and what motivated them to get into premium home audio and entertainment. Ease of use and setting up was another big concern. 

Goal here was to reduce distractions during the consumption of media and that the 'Connected' aspect of the system was giving 'Watch' and 'Listen' suggestions based on the user's mood and health. 

That was made possible by taking data from a wearable (assuming the user has one), and then analyzing it in the 'Brain' to give relevant suggestions. This makes it possible to put aside devices like phones and companion apps aside, and enjoy a complete analog experience.

The final concept was aimed to blend in with the home interior and work passively with the existing visual solution. 

Outfitted with one 'Brain' : the main hub, where all the data comes in, and 2 speakers, that connect with the brain wirelessly, it was as easy to unbox and set up as placing them and turning them on.

Design conception was a combination of technical and visual choices. Finding the balance between full and a deep sound stage, whilst keeping the sleek, lesser perceived thickness aesthetic.

It was really important to focus on the details, so as to make sure that the form stays dulled and blended in with the background. Soft round edges, paired with a subtle color palette made that possible. 

In order to achieve the 'away from phone' aspect, it was important to move the control completely analog, i.e. on a dedicated remote control.
